Tickled Thursday

Fifteen years ago, I met this crazy mechanic from Florida. We married a year and a half later, have two beautiful girls, and somehow still enjoy each other's company. I think it's because we both share the same level of weirdness.

May Smalls SAL

With the nasty storms we're getting daily here in Texas, our internet is touch and go. But I can't complain; we're not getting near the amount of flooding as the poor people north and south of us. Since I have a window now where it's working, I'll do a quick post on my Smalls SAL. This is being hosted by Heather of Stitching Lotus.
Christmas Blessings Hope by Lizzie Kate

Oh, funny, I just realized as I uploaded the picture that my little flames are hovering in the air. I forgot to stitch the wicks! Well, for now, I'm calling it done. I'll add those today and update the picture if the internet's working this afternoon.
Thanks for reading and looking.

Memorial Day and Alex's First Birthday

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. If you're in the U.S., please take a moment to remember why we celebrate Memorial Day today. Thank you to all the brave men and women who sacrificed for what they believe in.

Yesterday was Alex's first birthday! Wow, where did the year go? It was a good day; she had a lot of fun.
The Decorations
We themed it Princess and kept things simple. I got all my ideas from Pinterest.
Once Upon A Time banner made from paper plates, paper doilies, and scrapbook paper. I was so happy to use my Cricut to cut out the circles and the letters.
It was too big hung up to get all in one picture.
We had the party in the church fellowship hall. Pink and white tablecloths, pink Princess crepe paper and princess party favors on the tables.
Baby food jars with the lids spray painted, mini crowns from Party City hot glued on, and pink Sixlets. We encouraged people to take them home; out of ten, we brought two home with us.

The Cake
I'm lousy at making cakes, so when I saw a picture on Pinterest of cupcakes arranged in the shape of a dress, I jumped on it. Pink Velvet cupcakes with petal pink icing and edible pearls. The necklace and crown came from Dollar Tree. I put those away for when she's older.

The Party
She was really tired when we first got there. After a small nap during service, she was a lot happier. Her shirt says Birthday Princess.
We had about 15 people there.
Alex enjoyed her first piece of pizza.
And really enjoyed her first cupcake.
She loved opening her presents.

We got her a swing for outside. Tim hasn't been able to hang it yet because it's been raining nonstop for the last week. I'll get pictures when it's up.

Have a good Memorial Day.

Random Photos and Tickled Thursday

Here I am neglecting my blog and all my wonderful bloggy friends. Shame on me! I'm very behind on my blog reading; after Alex's party on Sunday, I hope to be able to do some catching up.

Some random things around my house:
Alex's new shoes. She doesn't know what to make of them.
The rainbow yarn bowl my beautiful, talented, artistic daughter Hope made me for Mother's Day.
No more yarn rolling away!
She also made me this little box. It had chocolate in it; that didn't last long.
Now I throw my orts in it as I stitch. Every couple days I empty them into the big jar.
Speaking of which, I missed TUSAL (again). It was a couple of days ago. This is being hosted by It's Daffycat. The yarn is probably two-three month's worth. The thread is from all year; I'm trying to fill the jar by the end of December.
I finished the body of the corner to corner blanket I'm making for my nephew, Luke; my sister-in-law is due in June, so I need to get cracking on the border. I'm using Red Heart With Love in Peacock for that.
I still have a lot of roses to make for the Granny Rose CAL, but I added the green to the ones I have. I'm using Loops and Threads Impeccable in Fern. This is being hosted by Astri of Apple Blossom Dreams.
I have some progress to show on a few of my starts; I think I'm the slowest stitcher in the world, but at least I'm still adding stitches. One day I'll finish something.
Brew by Lizzie Kate
Pretty Little New York by Jody Rice of Satsuma Street. This is a weekly SAL with Linda and Jo.
Life's Piece-makers
Actually, once in a while, I do finish something. I finished my chart for this month's Smalls SAL a week early, but I won't show it until Wednesday.
I'll leave you with some fiber funnies.
Thanks for reading and looking.

Roses, Gifted Gorgeousness and a VERY LATE Turtle Trot

It's been a very busy week around here. I'm FINALLY feeling better!! YAY!! It is soooo wonderful to be able to function normally again. I'm on some new vitamin supplements that help a lot. The pain is always a constant, but it's very mild and doesn't interfere with my daily activities right now.
That being said, I've been running around like crazy playing catch up. School, housework and planning for Alex's first birthday have consumed most of my time. I've squeezed in a tiny amount of crafty time lately and have a few things to show.

Astri of Apple Blossom Dreams is hosting a Granny Rose CAL; this is a pattern I've always wanted to make. I'm dreadfully behind because I spent forever choosing my colors. I've managed to make a few roses and would like to get a lot more made this weekend.
So far, I have 8 in Panther Pink and 1 in Pretty N Pink. I'm going to make some two-toned with pink and black and some two-toned in pink and Panther Pink.

Jo of Serendipitous Stitching is the host of Gifted Gorgeousness. We work on projects that are gifts to us or gifts for someone else. I worked on two charts this month.
Prairie Schooler Santa's 12 Days of Christmas was a gift from Linda. I finished all the red on Day 1.
Phineas and Ferb from Clouds Factory is a gift for my daughter, Hope; this is one of her favorite shows.

And I'm way late with Turtle Trot! On the 10th of every month, we (are supposed to!) post progress pics of 10 pieces we've picked to stitch in 2015. This is being hosted by Claudette of BAP Attack. I only managed to work on 7 this past month.
