November Photo a Day Finish

Where did November go?? How did it get to be the last day of November already?? Christmas is only 25 days away!!
Now that my little freak out is over, here are the last three pictures for the November Photo a Day Challenge.
November 28
Black
It's not all black, but most of it is. It's a photo storage box from Michaels.
I buy them whenever they're on sale because they're terrific for storing anything small.

November 29
So, This Happened
Tim and Hope put the Christmas tree up while I was at the ladies ministry meeting.
No ornaments yet, but at least it's up and has lights.
I know it's dorky because Alex is only 6 months old and won't remember a thing,
but we're trying to make her first Christmas exciting.

November 30
I Bought This!
We drove over to Arlington today just to bum around. I went to Joanns while
Tim and Hope went to Fry's (an electronics store).
I need more cross stitch charts like I need a hole in the head,
but I couldn't resist this one.
Seasons and quilts combined? Can't resist!
And, in case you're wondering (because I did),
the fifth "season" is Christmas.

I really enjoyed taking this month's photos. My new perspective helped a lot, and I actually
took all 30! That's never happened.
Tomorrow starts a new month and a new list. I haven't decided if I'm going to
stick with the same theme/backdrop or change it up. Any thoughts?
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

MMMM Challenge November #4

Just under the wire! It's been crazy around here the last few days, so I'm just now getting to my fourth Mega Mini Month Madness post.
I didn't stitch anything new this last week, just finished up the two I had started.

So, I managed to get 4 minis done this month. Not a lot, but I'm pleased with the results.
I'll be back later today with the last of the November Photo a Day Challenge pics.
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

I'm Thankful For This...
I'm thankful for so many things, family and friends topping the list.
And a group who have become like family to us is our church.
They've made our first year in Texas so wonderful :-)

Finished Shawl

I really enjoyed making this. You can find the pattern here.
Linking up with the Stashbuster Link Party at Linda's Crafty Corner.

Here's today's photo:

This is the front hall wall, the one I've been using as a

This and That

We're off school this week (I'm not sure who's more excited, the kid or me!), so I'm in the midst of some long overdue projects. We're doing some major decluttering and cleaning (no pics on that!).
I finally found my Pilgrim children. They don't seem overly happy to be back with their parents.
I'm prepping some card kits for this month's ladies ministry at my church. We're making Christmas cards to hand out at nursing homes and hospitals.
Our neighbor was getting rid of this table, so we snagged it. It has beautiful designs painted on it and is the perfect size for the front entry.
I liked the prompts I had for the last three days for the Photo a Day Challenge; they were fun to do. She just released the December list. How scary is that?
November 23
I Made This!
Samples of Christmas cards I've made in the past. I always keep one so I can
do it again. These are three of the ones we'll be making at church.

November 24
I Need to Do This!
I'm a list maker. My philosophy is "If I don't write it down, it won't get done."
These are my daily and weekly lists.
I never get everything on them done, but I try to get all the important things done.

November 25
Time
Have you ever tried to hold a baby and take her picture at the same time?
Anyway, Alex really makes me think about the passage of time.
It goes by so fast!
She turned 6 months old yesterday. Wasn't she just born?

Well, back to cleaning. I also have a couple of pies to get in the oven today.                                Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

TUSAL

It's a gray rainy day. Perfect for curling up on the couch with hot cocoa and a crafty pursuit.
Here are my ort pictures for this month's Totally Useless Stitch Along hosted by It's Daffycat. In honor of Thanksgiving, they're sharing the spotlight with Tom Turkey.
And here's today's pic for the November Photo a Day Challenge.
November 22
A Favorite Thing
I love owls. Anytime I see one at the store, I have to stop and ooh and aah.
It doesn't matter if it's a statue, a picture, a stuffed toy or a bath set.
I have umpteen owl crochet patterns and cross stitch charts on my to-make pile.
I just think they're neat :-)

Thanks for reading and looking. Wherever you are, stay warm and have a great day.
Blessings :-)

Photo a Day Thursday and Friday

November 20
Bright
It's really tiny, but my little flashlight puts out a really bright light.

November 21
Shoes
One of my favorite pairs of shoes. I don't wear wedges much
since Alex was born, but I still like them.

Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

MMMM Challenge November #3

Because I focused on my two giant Disney cross stitch charts this week, I didn't finish any minis for the Mega Mini Month Madness Challenge, but I started two:
 Noel Stained Glass Window
It needs the rest of the window filled in and the holly leaves added
This is from Stitch Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Leisure Arts
It needs a line of blue stitches around the outside
and the sentiment in the middle.
I'm still debating the rest of the backstitching. It's optional, and it does make the stitches
stand out, but it's also a pain.
I should have these done by next week, and that'll make my goal of 4 minis this month.

I'm helping my friend again today at her resale store, so I'll be back later with my
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

WIP Wednesday

A little stitchy progress here, a little hooky progress there...
I finished round 30 and started round 31. This one's going to take awhile; I love the points of the picot stitches, but I'm slow making them. I also keep forgetting to chain 2 after I make the picot; I remember two stitches later and have to frog.
I'm at the halfway point on the shawl. It needs to be done by the 29th, so I'm a little behind schedule.
But here's something to celebrate: a finished UFO!! (cheers, whistles, horns blowing, fireworks going off). I started this back in February. It was originally going to be a couple rows bigger, but I didn't have enough gray yarn. But it's about 25" x 34", a good preemie size. Once it's softened in the dryer, it'll be on its way to the Guardian Grandmas.
I added another hundred stitches to the Disney Heroes chart. Tim and Hope say it looks like Minecraft right now.
I'm still working on the Smalls SAL Challenge and the Mega Mini Month Madness Challenge; hopefully, I'll have pictures of those to share soon.
I started another gigantic cross stitch chart, although it's not quite as big as the Disney Heroes chart. It's from lovemystitch on Etsy. I stitched about a hundred stitches so far, but as they're all white (I'm starting with the top of her hair), and I'm working on white fabric, they're too hard to photograph now.
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

November 19
Whole
This is my whole collection of cross stitch floss.
But it's not a whole set; I'm missing several colors that I'll have to buy
before the Super Duper Ultimate Crazy Challenge begins in January.
(And don't worry about my wrist; most of the weight of the boxes
was leaning against the wall!)

Catching Up on Photo a Day Challenge

November 14
For Me
I'm the only one in the house who eats hummus with pita chips, so it's all for me :-)

November 15
Hot + Cold
We're a tea household. We all drink cold sweet tea all the time,
and Tim and I like hot tea in the evening.

November 16
After
After almost two weeks, my lovely roses are ready for the trash.

November 17
Cooking
I don't like to cook, but we all like to eat.
One of Tim's favorite meals (and what I'm making tonight for dinner)
is stuffed green peppers.
Recipe Here

November 18
I Love This
It's corny, but I love when all the socks match up when I fold a load of laundry.
No easy feat considering all the size differences.

If you ever want to join the fun,
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)
P.S. Only 37 days until the Mini Rings of Change CAL begins :-)

Monday Musings

I spent the weekend working, traveling and cooking. Friday, I helped my friend at her resale store. Saturday, I baked two pumpkin pies and traveled over to Fort Worth for a jewelry show. Sunday, I baked another two pumpkin pies along with sweet potato casserole, four cheese macaroni bake, puppy chow and five pounds of mashed potatoes for our church Thanksgiving feast.
The food was a hit. This is all we brought home:
So today, I'm relaxing. Sort of. There was school to teach this morning and laundry to do all day, but I'm doing it in my pajamas. And I plan to spend the rest of the afternoon in crafty fun before Tim comes home and we have to do the grocery shopping.

I'm making progress on my doily:
I finished rounds 28 and 29 and have worked a little of round 30.

My little bean is getting so big:
Yes, she's wearing a Halloween skeleton outfit; it was on Walmart clearance for 70 cents. I figure, for that price, she can wear it around the house until she outgrows it. The picture's a little fuzzy because she wouldn't stop bouncing. She loves her Fisher Price Jumperoo. I can't call her the Toothless Wonder anymore; Wednesday she got her first tooth! We've started the transition to solids; she likes sweet potatoes but isn't crazy about apple blueberry or rice cereal.

I've been playing on Etsy and Craftsy lately. Found this super cute cross stitch chart:
That just tickled my funny bone. It's a free chart from PixyStitch; you'll just need to set up a Craftsy account if you don't have one.

Hope discovered Visual Journaling:
She loves any excuse to draw. Now I just have to figure out a way to count this as Art class...

I have some interesting prompts for my November photo a day challenge; I'm still mulling over how and what to photograph, so I'll have to come back for those.

Have a great day and stay warm!
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

MMMM Challenge November #2

I'm continuing the Mega Mini Month Challenge hosted by Justine at Justine's Cross Stitch. I finished chart #2 this week:
Ladybugs
Started 11-6-14
Finished 11-13-14
The next three days are overscheduled, so I may play catch up with my photo a day challenge on Monday.
Thanks for reading and looking.

A Stashbuster and a New Start

I've made slow progress with my doily and prayer shawl over the last week. I also made a Christmas stocking for Hope.
It's made with Red Heart Super Saver Amethyst, Turqua, and Pretty N Pink. She wanted one made the same way as my stocking.
My grandmother made me this when I was born. I'll be making one for Alex next.

I bought a few cross stitch charts off Etsy and started one the other day.
It's one of the Disney Heroes set, but I'm not sure what number. It'll take me years to get this done. Here's a picture of the finished project:

That's about it for me. It's been a cold week here in Texas, so it's great stitching weather. I'm especially enjoying working on the shawl; it keeps me warm while I'm crocheting.
Thanks for reading and looking.
Blessings :-)

November 12
Normal

At this time in my life, it's normal for me to always carry bottles, diapers and wipes.

November 13
Letters

I love alphabet cross stitch samplers. These are a couple I plan to start for next year's Super Duper Ultimate Crazy Challenge. I've created a page for all the projects I plan to start if you want to see it and haven't had a chance to yet.
