This is my first time writing a pattern so please forgive any rookie mistakes. I wrote it so my crazy brain can understand it, but if you can't, please let me know and I'll try to help.
The Sailor Square
Hook size: H (use whatever size you like best; that's just the size I used)Stitch abbreviations: sl st = slip stitch
ch= chain
dc= double crochet
bet= between
sp= space
fo= finish off
sc = single crochet
hdc= half double crochet
Ch 4
join with a sl st in 4th ch to make a loop.
Round 1:
Ch 3 (counts as a dc)
1 dc in loop
*ch 1
2 dc in loop
repeat from * 3 times
ch 1
join with a sl st in top of ch 3
(5 groups of 2 dc with ch 1 sp)
Round 2:
sl st bet 2dc from previous round
ch 3 (counts as dc)
1dc in same sp
*ch 5
2 dc in sp bet 2dc from previous round
repeat from * 3 times
ch 5
join with a sl st in top of ch 3
(5 groups of 2dc with ch 5 sp)
Round 3:
sl st in next dc
sl st in ch 5 sp
ch 3 (counts as dc)
9dc in ch 5 sp
*ch 2
10dc in ch 5 sp
repeat from * 3 times
ch 2
join with a sl st in top of ch 3
(5 groups of 10dc with ch2 sp)
fo first color
Round 4:
attach second color with sl st in ch 2 sp
ch 3 (counts as dc)
1 dc in same ch 2 sp
1dc in each dc around with 2dc in each ch2 sp
join with a sl st in top of ch 3
(60 dc)
Round 5:
ch 3 (counts as dc)
1dc in each of next 13dc
2dc, ch2, 2dc all in next dc (corner)
*1dc in each of next 14dc
2dc, ch2, 2dc all in next dc (corner)
repeat from * 2 times
join with a sl st in top of ch 3
fo second color
Round 6:
attach first color with sc in any dc
sc in each dc around, working 2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in each corner
join with a sl st in first sc

Scrap Jar Experiment Week 2
Last Monday, I started with an empty jar.This is how it looks this week.
I've been working on my granny squares for the granny square-along (click on the afghan on the left under Challenges for details) so I've accumulated quite a few this week. We'll see how it looks next Monday.
