WIP Thursday

I don't like it as much as WIP Wednesday (better alliteration), but we had unexpected company show up last night and stay late so I didn't get a chance to post yesterday. C'est la vie!

I had fun making yo yos this week. Can you tell? I have 130 so far; 20 more and I'll start connecting them.
It's coming along slooowly. I'm determined to get it finished and in the mail to Project Linus before we leave next week.
I started a blanket for me (finally! my own crocheted blanket!); the pattern can be found over at Signed With an Owl.
I made another washcloth for the kitchen; pattern is over at moogly; don't think I'm crazy if you click on this link and pull up a pattern for a baby blanket. Under the second picture, she mentions turning the blanket pattern into a washcloth pattern.
And I finally got brave enough to try the roses from Apple Blossom Dreams. It took several watches of the video and several reads of the pattern, but I got it! The top one is my first attempt; I messed up the connection on the second round and I held it wrong so the third round came out upside down. But I took a deep breath, rewatched the video, reread the directions, and tried again. The second one came out much better. Thanks, Astri!

We are Texas-bound in 10 days! I turn into a crazy person at this time every year, so my posts and comments on your posts may become (read: will become) extremely erratic over the next week and a half. I'm also open to suggestions on what crochet projects to pack; this will be my first road trip crocheting.

  1. Your projects are coming on really well. Well done on completing some of Astri's roses they are looking good! You need an easy portable project for you trip, I'm going away for the weekend and am looking for one too. Something simple and not too many colours, maybe a simple scarf or a baby blanket, Astri's roses are addictive once you get going, some of those perhaps. :)

    1. Thanks :-) I figured out what I'm going to do with the roses, but it's a secret for now :-) I think I will take them with me. Probably my yo yos, too.
      Have a great day :-)

  2. Hi dear my friend, When I look your crochet works, I feel I am so lazy..:)) You always make perfect and beautiful crochets.. I like your yo yos.. I am curiously waiting how you will join them.. Today I tried to join my circles flowers but... Big sorrow..:( I couldn't join them by crochet hook.. Then I tried to sew the motifs and at the end I went to siesta sleep..:))
    All good wishes...

    1. You're not lazy, I am! I'm usually crocheting when I should be cleaning or doing something important. I love all your crochet projects.
I'm sorry your circle flowers didn't connect; keep trying, you'll get it. I'm hoping to have mine started by next week so you can see it.
      Have a great day :-)

  4. I wanted to ask how many chains did you use for the washcloth? I did not understand what she meant about changing the number of chains.

    1. I chained 27; the multiple of 4 is 24 plus 3 makes 27. When you double crochet to the end, you'll have 25 stitches because the first 3 chains count as a double crochet. The chain three turn counts as a double crochet, but the chain one turn does not count as a single crochet.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  5. You've been busy. I like the blanket you're making for yourself. Sometimes you just have to take the time for your own things. :)
