Neglected Hobby and Stashbuster #10: Cupcake Hats

Believe it or not, I have hobbies other than crochet. I read a lot, scrapbook and make cards (this has been neglected a lot lately, too), and I cross stitch.
It's the last one I decided to resurrect after seeing all the lovely starts Linda's doing on Stitchin With My Furbabies. So I went through a bunch of boxes,
found all my threads (I had to fix two boxes that had flipped over),
chose my design ("Cats, Cats, Cats" from Cat Purr-sonalities, #3588 from American School of Needlework),
gathered all the appropriate colors (with a few substitutions), and prepped my fabric. I'm hoping to begin stitching tomorrow during the day. I have very poor light in the living room at night and don't think I'll torture my eyes just yet.
I finished these last night for the Guardian Grandmas. All the crocheting was actually finished Monday, but it took me a few days to do the pom poms. I'm still new at making them. The pattern can be found here at Dly's Hooks and Yarns.

Back down in the 30's today, 20's tonight. Not nearly as cold as other places but still too cold for this Florida girl. Stay warm, everyone.
Thanks for reading!
Blessings :-)

  3. Lovely hats, so cute! I love cross stitching too, but it does strain my eyes a lot now so I had to give it up, it's a lovely picture can't wait to see your progress. Your owl pictures made me laugh. :)

  4. I used to do cross-stitch years ago, but I stopped after I started waking up with headaches. I guess it bothered my eyes too much. I love that you made some little cupcake hats - I'm glad that you like the pattern. :)

    1. I get headaches if I try to do too many stitches a day; I have to pace myself. I love the cupcake hat pattern; thanks for it :-) Now I have to make a bigger one for my daughter!

  5. well hello..those cupcake hats looks wonderful..I used to do cross stitching, but I found I had a tough time finishing anything, and I really enjoy thread crochet so much more..I am in awe of those like you who can do more than one thing at a time, and who have many hobbies that they do well. Hugs..

    1. Thanks :-) I love your thread crochet; I haven't done much of that yet. I just have so many hobbies because I can't keep my brain focused on one thing too long :-)
